This Christmas, London’s most dynamic new neighbourhood, Greenwich Peninsula, will present a unique and festive edition of its vibrant urban market, SAMPLE, curated by HemingwayDesign. Over the weekend of Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd of December, the Peninsula will host what is set to be London’s most creative festive experience.
The festive edition of SAMPLE will be unlike any before it, or any other public Christmas event to be held in London over the season. Free for all to attend and packed with fashion, food and foliage, it will provide Londoners with the opportunity to shop, eat, drink and celebrate the season to come, sampling the best produce from an edited collective of London’s most renowned and emerging creatives. In true festive spirit, this SAMPLE will see the addition of a late-night food and drink market on Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd of December, accompanied by live music, performances and DJ sets to kick start the Christmas celebrations.
An extraordinary gateway installation will welcome visitors with creative holiday cheer, crafted by light installation artists and London’s oldest, most loved neon sign makers, God’s Own Junkyard. Beyond the gateway, visitors will find emerging designers and highly skilled artisans selling homeware, fashion and food, all offering a selection of unique gifts for Christmas and a truly memorable shopping experience.
An event for all, guests will be able to participate in everything from wreath making workshops by contemporary London florist, Rebel Rebel, to masterclasses in gift wrapping and macramé. Activities will sit alongside exceptional Christmas shopping from independent creatives and pop-up concepts, including streetwear provocateurs, Aries, to the bold and brave design retailer, The Darkroom.
Coinciding with this festive edition of SAMPLE, the Peninsula’s pioneering space for design, fashion and art, the NOW Gallery, will stage the first solo exhibition by the multi-talented creative Charles Jeffrey. The radical Glaswegian designer and illustrator’s exhibition, THE COME UP, will be an interactive and three-dimensional representation of Jeffrey’s LOVERBOY brand, which is part club night, part fashion label.
This immersive and inspired Christmas experience represents Greenwich Peninsula’s ongoing commitment to supporting London’s creative community and its evolution. This exciting public programme for Christmas complements Greenwich Peninsula’s recent announcement of the Design District a permanent, affordable home for an eclectic ecosystem of ambitious start-ups, entrepreneurs and creatives on the Peninsula. The Design District, the first of its kind in London, will be the embodiment of Greenwich Peninsula’s mission to Keep London Creative.Share This Post
