The Library, Covent Garden
I’m not sure about anyone else, but I have fond memories of libraries. From running along the aisles in my local children’s library as a 6 year old, to running along the aisles in my university library as a slightly inebriated 19 year old (and nearly getting banned in the process). However, not even my memories can compare to Library, a new members club that opened earlier this month in Covent Garden.
Based in a 5 story townhouse with a nightclub on the ground floor, and more intimate rooms as you go up the never ending staircase, The Library eventually lead up to 6 guest rooms on the top floor. The Library is described as a club for “the eclectic literary, thespian, music and design communities” featuring artwork, meditation classes, nightly musical entertainment, and unsurprisingly, a library. The eloquent furnishings and layout comes courtesy of the 19 Greek Street interior design team, famed for their involvement with Sketch restaurant in Mayfair, and design houses such as Louis Vuitton and Vivienne Westwood.
Before you get too excited though, The Library is exclusive. And when I say exclusive, I mean every member must be voted in by a committee, and founder member status comes with a 5 figure fee kind of exclusive. However, we mere mortals can gain a day pass to enjoy the facilities if you book in to ‘The Kitchen’ for lunch. Offering the kind of experience that only millionaire playboys can afford, Library is effectively their playground.
