The Blues Kitchen, Shoreditch
One of the staples of the Camden food and live music arena has opened a hotly anticipated second venue in Shoreditch. Following much of the same formula that made the first one such a big hit, it specialises in bourbon, Texan style barbeque, and live music most night of the week.
The venue sits on Curtain Road and was formerly the home to Bar Music Hall. On one half of the building you’ll find a stage and a more than adequately sized dance floor; on the other, American style booths have been installed so you can dine in comfort; and there is even an Airstream caravan at the back for a private experience. To my delight, there are no major changes to the food menu that had me ranting and raving about the place when I first went (click here), and all my favourites including the St Louis ribs, New Orleans Gumbo, and The Blues Kitchen Chilli all remain.
The cocktails are typically Southern state, so expect them strong and to the point. All the famous bourbon drinks are there, and as there are close to 100 American whiskies available, you can have them just how you like. At the recent launch party I tried an extremely punchy Sazerac that even tested my somewhat high limits.
I’m pleased to announce that The Blues Kitchen have used the old adage “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” when deciding on how to theme this new bar/restaurant. If you like your music loud and your food and drink undiluted, be sure to check it out.
