Just Opened

Quaglino’s Bellini and Meringue Bar

Quaglino’s is a Mayfair institution.  Originally opened in 1929 it’s probable that you have an older relative that has visited the Bury Street site at some point in their youth.  The venue was taken over in 1993 by D&D London (owners of famous London venues such as Floridita, Le Pont de la Tour, and Bluebird Chelsea)- and they plan to celebrate their 21st birthday in typical Quaglino’s style.

Bellini Bar

The party began last week with the opening of a new Bellini bar featuring 21 varieties of the Prosecco based cocktail with unusual flavours such as beetroot and basil & mandarin to the more traditional peach, strawberry, and orange.  In an unusual twist, the Bellinis will be accompanied by a range of fruity flavoured meringues created by London based dessert connoisseurs The Meringue Girls.

Quaglinos Meringues

I got a preview of the menu and must say that some of the flavour combinations were delicious; my favourite being a passion fruit Bellini and chocolate meringue combo.  With a range of colourful bottles and meringues displayed, it has breathed a sense of new life into the bar area overlooking the restaurant.  I may still have been in short trousers in 1993, but Quaglino’s has aged a whole lot better than I have!
