Patty and Bun, Liverpool St
Summary: As far as dedicated burger restaurants go, Patty and Bun is close to, if not the best, in LDN.
Best Bar None
One of the most anticipated burger bar launches takes place on Tuesday 22nd April as Patty & Bun opens its second restaurant on Liverpool Street.
Originally starting out as a street food vendor, the popularity grew to such an extent that in 2012 they opened up their first proper restaurant on James Street. It has done amazingly well and after a long day’s shopping on Oxford Street, Patty & Bun is always my first choice when I’m craving a burger. The problem is I hardly find myself in the West End, but being a Shoreditch regular, I was pleased to learn of the new opening that’s 10 minutes’ walk from Shoreditch High Street (and well worth the exercise).
I was fortunate enough to get a glimpse of the new venue and took full advantage. There are 3 beef burgers, 1 chicken, and 1 mushroom burger on the menu and side dishes consisting of sweet barbeque wings, spicy thighs and rosemary fries. Having sampled all, the Ari Gold cheeseburger still remains my favourite. Be warned though, there is no dainty way to eat a Patty & Bun and if supreme concentration is not maintained throughout, the signature P&B spicy mayo and beef juice will get EVERYWHERE!
Given the location and arguably the best burgers in London, lunchtime will undoubtedly be manic. But after witnessing the efficient production line and a drive thru style serving window hanging onto Liverpool Street, there’s no fear that you’ll be late back to work. There are only a few seats around the perimeter of the small restaurant, so best advised to take out to enjoy a burger in proper comfort.
As an opening offer, the first 1000 burgers on Tuesday 22nd will be given away for free. The store opens at 11:30am but expect large queues, so get there well before to avoid disappointment.
