London’s Three Best Winter Beauty Treats
So I’m going travelling around South America shortly and, as excited as I am, I know I’ll miss London’s luxuries like beauty and spa. Trying to narrow down the most essential treatments pre-travelling, a winter sun holiday, or simply in preparation for the holiday season hasn’t been easy, but I’ve been told I need to keep it natural with my face so have decided to go for the best in hair, nails and legs pampering.
Of course I won’t be completely disregarding my face so I’m taking my new favourite finds, the all-natural Cinerex Anti Gravity Intense Lifting Serum (£55), and WunderBrow (£19.95), a semi-permanent brows solution that delivers full, natural looking water-proof eyebrows for up to three days, no retouches needed.
Whether you’re staying in London or jetting off for Christmas, have a read and treat yourself to at least one of these lovely treatments!
Olaplex at ColourNation
Gone are the days when the word on everyone’s lips was keratin; there’s a new wonder product in town. What if there was a way we could keep chemical treatments or styling tools from harming our hair? The bonds that give elasticity and strength to the hair, called disulphides bonds, can break during chemical processes, particularly colouring or when using heated tools.
Olaplex helps rebuild these broken bonds, opening a world of possibilities when it comes to experimenting with your hair — you may finally be able to go platinum and not lose half your locks in the process! The easy, in-salon, two-step process that takes around half an hour can be used pre/post or alongside colouring.
I was lucky to try the treatment at one of the UK’s leading hair colour salons, ColourNation, in the heart of Oxford Circus, and had a lovely evening relaxing and enjoying a cuppa on a shiatsu massage chair. I also noticed an immediate improvement in my hair – as it wasn’t too damaged to begin with I wasn’t sure of how much of a difference I would be able to see but the treatment got rid of any split ends straight away and it felt smoother and healthier overall.
Olaplex costs £50 as a stand-alone treatment or £25 as an upgrade with any colour service

Targeted Toning Tightener at the House of Elemis
I’m a bit embarrassed to admit that I’d never even seen the old Elemis flagship store in London, which had been going for 14 years. I blame it on its super premium location, which you’d only really come across if you shop in the high end side of Bond Street, but is no doubt very lovely. It’s now reopened after a total transformation as The House of Elemis, a couture beauty house where spa meets science meets skin. Given that I’ll soon be sunning myself on the beaches of Brazil surrounded by gorgeous locals, this time I decided to go for a body treatment that focuses on the body, the Targeted Toning Tightener.
A powerful blend of salts, minerals and seaweeds work together to target cellulite and poor skin tone on hips, thighs, abdomen and back of arms. The treatment starts with body brushing using cactus bristles and Nigari salt to deeply cleanse, followed by a vigorous sculpting massage to kick-start the micro-circulation, promoting a smoother silhouette. I found this very relaxing but it’s definitely more energetic that your average massage, after all it aims to break down fatty deposits. A cooling rubberised mask, rich in super-detoxing caffeine, Red Algae and green clay is then applied to problem areas.
The result is skin that looks and feels intensely toned and refreshed. I went for a localised treatment on my thighs as I get heavy legs and definitely came out with them feeling much lighter. Overall a fab treatment in a very luxurious Mayfair townhouse, I’d recommend a visit to The House of Elemis if you’re in need of a bit of pampering or maybe short of ideas for Christmas presents to treat the ladies in your life.
The Targeted Toning Tightener lasts 1hr30mins and costs £135. A localised treatment for Arms, Hips & Thighs, or Abdomen lasts 30mins and costs £45

Mani-pedis at your doorstep with Prettly
Londoners are known to be very busy people. It’s hard enough to fit in a mani-pedi, let alone find the time to travel across town to your favourite salon. This explains why I often find myself at meetings or nice dinners looking down at my hands and wondering how I dared leave the house with half bitten nails and chipped polish. New Yorkers are miles ahead of us when it comes to nails on the go, some offices even offer complimentary hand pampering, ever heard of Manicure Mondays?
But don’t despair, we’re getting there, Prettly brings you mani-pedis to your home or workplace. I tried it and it couldn’t have been easier — you book your treatment through the website in just two taps after selecting your location, appointment date and beauty specialist. I went for Lisa Marie, who had lots of raving reviews, and I can see why. She turned up at my door promptly, had many polish colours to choose from and did a great job on my shellac nails, plus she was lovely. I definitely encourage you to give it a go, who wants to leave the comfort of their home now that the temperature is dropping.
Prettly’s already very affordable but they have kindly created a special discount code for ImALondoner readers, just enter LONDONER at the checkout for £10 off your first treatment and enjoy!
A Shellac manicure takes 45-60 minutes and costs £35
