HD Brows by iBrows Etc, Marble Arch
If you’re rather content with your face as it is, allow me to put that to the test. I encourage you to look in the mirror and reassess your brows and lashes – as a true perfectionist I can tell you that there’s always room for improvement. For the past couple of years brows and lashes have been the beauty buzzwords on everyone’s lips and it’s no wonder as they can dramatically change your expression, instantly knock years off your face and generally improve the look of your features. Not only that but there’s no need to go under the knife or splurge, the advanced treatments on offer today are affordable and non-invasive.
One of my best kept beauty secrets is LVL lashes, a little treat I indulge in before special occasions and which I only trust my local Brow Bar iBrows etc with, but this time I went in to try their most popular offering, the ultimate brow treatment. Admittedly, the name High Definition Brows is a bit daunting, Scouse brows may come to mind, but don’t let that put you off. The idea behind HD Brows is to find the perfect brow shape and colour for you and sculpt them through seven simple steps. Founded by celebrity makeup artist Nilam Patel the treatment is recommended for both overgrown and over-plucked eyebrows and it really can transform your face.
What I find with eyebrow treatments is that people seem a bit reluctant to try them at first as they fear that shaping scarce brows could make them worse (talking from experience here), but that couldn’t be further from the truth. Once you give them a go there really is no turning back!
I imagine this is one of the reasons why iBrows etc, founded by the talented Sandra two years ago, is booming and even counts numerous celebrities amongst its fans — on the day I paid them a visit, singer Delilah was next to me, while Aston Merrygold of JLS and Etta Bond were coming in later. Other regulars also include reality TV star Stephanie Pratt and the gorgeous Tulisa Contostavlos. As with most beauty treatments, HD Brows works on both women and men and can be adapted to suit individual needs and preferences.
The treatment begins with a consultation by one of the highly trained technicians, who finds out exactly what you want to achieve as well as advising you. This is an important part of the process as over 70% of facial expressions depend on your eyebrows, so they should match your personality! Next, your brows are tinted. Blondes, don’t be scared to go darker as a medium brown will really help frame your face. The third step is waxing, which despite popular belief is not painful, but can be a bit harsh on very sensitive skin (like mine).
Waxing is great for defining the brows’ shape and is followed by a nice lavender soother called Comfort Me, but I prefer step four, threading. I’m always amazed by this method as by using just some standard thread it quickly removes all stray hairs and is much kinder to skin, albeit slightly more uncomfortable.
The fifth and sixth steps are tweezing and trimming in order to achieve the perfect high definition look, and the final touches are given with the brilliant HD Brows products. The Fluid Foundation gives great coverage while maintaining your skin’s natural glow, perfect to conceal the post-treatment redness; the Brow Define is a long-lasting pencil with a built in sharpener; Browtec is a creamier pencil with antioxidants, ideal to define the shape precisely; and Brow Colourfix is a tinted gel that keeps the hairs in place and guarantees a groomed look for hours.
Perfect brows can take a few sessions depending on the areas you may need to grow out but it’s fair to say that a huge difference and improvement can be appreciated instantly, just look at my before and after pictures! Even my boyfriend, who can hardly tell when I have my hair dyed or cut, seemed to love my new brows. If you’re yet to try HD Brows don’t hesitate and make sure to take pre and post-treatment shots — they are sure to brighten up your day. To maintain the look, a visit every three weeks is recommended and in-between treatments you can keep your brows looking great with the HD products.
HD Brows costs £40 and the treatment time is 45 minutes. Please note: this treatment requires a patch test a minimum of 24 hours before the service can be carried out.
