Baijiu Cocktail Week

Chinese New Year has grown in popularity over the past few years, and is no longer just a celebrated with a few fireworks in Chinatown.  This year in particular I’ve been inundated with celebratory menus and party invites for the week long celebration of the Year of the Sheep. One that intrigued me though was Baijiu Cocktail Week, a 10 day party from 13th – 22nd February based around China’s most popular spirit.

Baijiu is a 52% ABV white spirit that’s typically used in China to celebrate business deals, a tradition that started when soldiers would share drinks after winning a long battle.  16 of London’s best bars are taking part by offering Baijiu based cocktails including Opium, Hakkasan, Hutong in the Shard. The full line up of venues and cocktails is listed on the official Baijiu Cocktail Week website http://www.baijiucocktailweek.co.uk/#about

Baijiu Cocktail Week is sponsored by Shui Jing Fang, a leading premium Baijiu and is available to buy through SeaWoo (Chinatown & Greenwich) priced £81 with a 10% discount throughout February.
